Tobacco Free Lancaster County is empowering local youth with World No Tobacco Day on June 1. World No Tobacco Day, founded by the World Health Organization (WHO), celebrates bringing attention and awareness to the dangers of tobacco use, business practices of tobacco companies, what is being done to fight the tobacco epidemic, and what people around the world can do to claim their right to health and healthy living and protect future generations.

At the local event, youth will learn about all things tobacco, including health risks and environmental  effects of e-cigarettes, while visiting the Lincoln Children’s Zoo and enjoying lunching in the park. In addition to preparing our future leaders to fight big tobacco, Tobacco Free Lancaster Country supports the World No Tobacco Day 2021 theme “Commit to Quit” with quitting resources, free support to implement or improve tobacco-free policies at your workplace or multi-unit housing community, and much more.

Funding for Tobacco Free Lancaster Country is provided by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services/Tobacco Free Nebraska Program as a result of the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement. If you are ready to quit tobacco, call 1-(800) QUIT-NOW for free confidential help getting started. For more information about World No Tobacco Day and associated activities, contact Shelby Bingham at 402-441-4605 or by emailing sbingham@lincoln.ne.gov.
