As we approach the month of May, we would like to take a moment to talk about the importance of mental health awareness. Mental health is a critical aspect of our well-being, but it is often ignored or stigmatized. It’s time to change that, and we invite you to join us in our efforts to promote mental health awareness in Lancaster County.

Did you know that one in five Americans will experience a mental health condition this year? Additionally, almost half of the population will struggle with a diagnosable condition in their lifetime. This is why spreading awareness and educating people about mental health is essential.

At Tobacco Free Lancaster County, we are proud to partner with the Mental Health Association of Nebraska and the Lancaster County Prevention Coalition to launch the #GreenLightProjectNE. The project aims to reduce stigma and encourage conversations about mental health by promoting Mental Health America’s “Light Up Green” campaign.

We invite you to participate in this month-long campaign by adding green lights to your home or business, posting a yard sign, or sharing a social media post. Doing so will show your support for those affected by mental health and encourage others to do the same.

To get involved, register here by April 26th and pick up your free yard sign and light bulb on April 27-28! Beginning May 1, light bulbs and yard signs will be available at each partner location while supplies last!

  • 1645 N Street, Lincoln, NE 68508)

Throughout the month of May, each partner agency will share social media posts, and we encourage you to follow, like, and share them with your friends and family.

We all know someone who has been affected by a mental health issue. It’s time to come together as a community to show our support and encourage conversations about mental health. Let’s light up Lincoln in green this May to shine a light on mental health awareness.
